Summer Program Opportunities: The Road to College hosted by Washington Univ.in St. Louis Thursday, June 10 or Tuesday, July 27 Washington University invites you to a college planning conference for high school students and parents. Both programs are scheduled from 7:30am to 11:45am and will be held on the Wash U campus. There is no cost to attend. Missouri University of Science & Technology Summer Enrichment Programs This summer program provides a fun and interesting way for students to learn about the opportunities that lay ahead in science, technology, engineering and mathematic based careers. KU Engineering Camps for Teens Project Discovery July 11-16 (for girls entering 9-12th grade) This is an intensive learning camp that introduces students to engineering principles, career opportunities and world class research as well as faculty and researchers on the KU campus. Loyola University Chicago's Pre-Collegiate Summer Scholars Program This program is designed for current motivated sophomores and juniors who want to get a head start on their college careers. In addition to earning college credit, Summer Scholars become acquainted with college life through study, academic discussion, and social activity. Admission requirements: 3.2 GPA and must be a current 10th or 11th grader. Early Admission deadline: March 20, Regular Admission deadline: May 7. Seton Hall University Summer Collegiate Studies Program This program is designed to give excellent high school students and graduating seniors college credit during the summer. Interested students must have earned a minimum G.P.A. of 3.2, submit a guidance counselor recommendation and apply before June 1. A student can choose up to two courses to take during the program: COST 1600 - Oral Communicaiton PSYC 1101 - Intro to Psychology SOCI 1101 - Intro to Sociology Tuition is $1,350 per course. Penn Summer for Rising Juniors and Seniors Residential Programs on Campus in Philadelphia Pre-College Program (6-week): July 5 - August 14, 2010 Rising juniors and seniors may enroll in one or two undergraduate courses during the University of Pennsylvania's Summer Session. Successful completion of courses will result in official academic credits, which may be applied toward an undergraduate degree. Students also have the opportunity to take part in academic enrichment programs, college application workshops, and college tours throughout the Northeast, all while receiving a complete undergraduate experience. Washington University in St. Louis Summer Scholars Program For students completing their sophomore or junior year. There are two summer program options: Summer Scholars Program - Discover what real college courses are like, share classes with other college students, and get a head start on adjusting to college life. Five week program allows you to choose from a variety of academic disciplines. Must have a B+ or higher academic average and have scored a combined SAT score of at least 1800 or PSAT of 180 or have an ACT/PLAN of at least 25. Summer at Georgetown University This program gives highly motivated students the opportunity to earn college credit and advance their academic skills through a variety of challenging learning experiences lasting from eight days to ten weeks. "Summer Hoyas" have the unique opportunity to learn from the aclaimed Georgetown faculty and alumni including former and current members of Congress, well-known journalists and authors and lawmakers. Georgetown offers 13 different programs and students are admitted on a rolling basis, admission is competitive and early applications are encouraged. Baker University Reading & Speed Reading Skills for Children Program for entering 9-12th graders: Students in these programs improve comprehension one to two grade levels while doubling reading speed. They also learn the best way to read textbooks, take notes, and study for tests. As a result, students complete homework more quickly and easily, get better grades, and enjoy reading more.
