 Special Accommodations at Sion

Sion recognizes that each student comes to us with unique gifts, talents, and needs and we strive to deliver an appropriate educational environment that allows all students to flourish. If your student has a diagnosed condition, which affects her learning, she may be eligible to receive certain accommodations at Sion. To receive accommodations at Sion, you will need an official documentation from a qualified professional (physician, therapist, psychologist, educational specialist, etc) stating the specific disability or diagnosis and the functional limitation or impairment resulting from it, as well as the specific accommodations recommended.

Students with accommodations may use an alternative location for classroom tests.  The locations for testing during each hour of the school day can be found here.

Additionally, students may wish to apply for accommodations on college entrance exams such as the ACT and/or SAT*. The following steps are necessary to apply for such accommodations:

  • Make sure documentation (evaluation or reevaluation) is current:
    • For ACT within last 3 years
    • For SAT within last 5 years
  • For the SAT, students only need to apply once during their high school career. Any accommodations granted can be used on all College Board exams (SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, AP) so it is recommended that you apply early in your high school career
  • For the ACT, students must apply for accommodations each time they register for an ACT exam. ACT requires at least 5 weeks to review accommodation requests.

For further information or for help with the process, please contact Erika Ellwanger, Accommodations Coordinator.

*Accommodations at Sion do not guarantee accommodations on the SAT and/or ACT.
