Description: The NDS Dance Team is an
enthusiastic group of talented dancers who work together to further
Sion spirit by performing at designated games and special events.
In addition, the squad competes as an athletic team in individual state
and national competitions. Team accomplishments include first
place finishes at Missouri State Championships, Sweepstakes Awards,
Invitational Competition Awards and a 5th place finish at the National
Dance Team Championships.
Membership: Dance team is similar to sports in that it demands
physical skills such as strength, coordination, flexibility, and
endurance plus teamwork. As a year-round activity, it also
requires the continued self-discipline and challenge of maintaining
high levels of enthusiasm and commitment. Anyone enrolled at Sion
may try out for the team. Due to the demands of the activity, a
minimum 2.5 GPA is required to audition and remain on the team.
Cost: Members provide a uniform rental and maintenance fee,
summer camp fees, and clothing, personal uniform components (shoes,
hose, socks, etc.) and as appropriate, transportation fees and/or
partial lodging fees for competition. Group fund raising events
are held to help defray expenses for competition.
